MEET OUR HORSES

Our Horses!!!

Charlie

Horses Travel For EventsCharlie is an 9 year old Belgian Draft Horse gelding, that stands at 18 hands and weighs in at about 1,800 lbs. He has become quite the mascot here at Rustler Ranch. His personality says it all! The Gentle Giant. He loves to be the center of attention. Charlie does everything from Traditional riding lessons,  Therapeutic riding lessons, to Pony rides. He does pull a cart but is currently still in training for that.

Sayda

Sayda is  15-18 year old Percheron cross mare. We ended up getting her through a rescue. When she came to us, she had this sadness about her that you could see in her eyes. She was so well behaved, but always shied away not trusting the human. It was sad to think about what she had possibly gone through. Once we started introducing some of our children to her, you could start to see a happy glow in her eye. It was such a blessing! Slowly we started introducing her into our program and Sayda started becoming one of the kids favorite. Sayda is also quiet the driving horse too! She is so glad to finally have a happy loving home.

Lil Girl

IMG_0484Lil Girl is 14 year old Quarter Horse Mare. Born right here on the farm! Her Sire and Dam (Father and Mother) still live on the property. Lil girl is also part of all of our programs. She is great in our Therapeutic Riding program and slowly becoming a great Traditional Riding lesson horse for our more advanced students. Lil Girl has become quite the performer for the opening of our Cowboy Church and she also started going to horse shows and doing very well.

Curry

051Curry is a 15 year old Quarter Horse mare. Also born here on the Ranch. A favorite to some of our volunteers, staff and students. Curry has such a sweet disposition. She is great with the kids! If you ask her kindly she will do just about anything for you. She is also involved with all of our lesson programs.

Misty

15401136_10209109363343467_7967742761774755996_nMisty is a 19 year old Quarter Horse mare. Born and raised on the Ranch. Such a sweet high spirited mare and boss of the herd. She is great in our Therapeutic Riding program for our little ones. Unfortunately Misty has some issues. She gets sore backed very easily. Possibly due to an old Barrel racing injury to the shoulder, but with three years of Therapy training her back is slowly getting stronger. She also has a metabolic condition that prevents her from eating to much grass. Which is controlled with diet. With all of this Misty has been learning the art of Liberty. Liberty is a type of communication and body language a free environment for the horse, no tack. Just you and your horse with a special bond.

Bugzy

Bugzy is a 7-8 year old Quarter Horse Gelding. Bugzy is owned by Candice and is free leased to the Ranch for the programs. He is a lesson horse to a Therapeutic Riding horses. When he first came to the ranch he had a very poor attitude. With vet checks and farrier checks we found out Bugzy was just very uncomfortable. He had to have corrective shoeing to get him sound on his feet and proper exercise for an old muscle injury on his right side. It has been almost a year and he has been doing great!!!

Kash

Kash is a 7-8 year old Quarter Horse Gelding. Kash is owned by Candice and is attached to one special girl in the Therapeutic Riding Program. Kash is a horse that has been through some terrible times we think. He has been in training since October 2015 and has come a long way. He was extremely thin when his previous owners bought him and very emotional. With the kind love from that ranch he has learn to trust again and has turned into an amazing horse!

Lil Boy

035Lil Boy is a 12 year old Quarter Horse gelding, full brother to Lil Girl. Lil Boy had some set backs last year with his Metabolic condition, but this year he is fit and going strong!! Some feed changes were made he was able to shed the weight and he feels better. We are hoping he makes a great comeback in our program this year. We think he is looking forward to it too!

Penny

img_2315

Penny is 8-10 year old Quarter Horse Mare! She was given to the ranch some years ago. She ended up spending her time in the pasture and about three years ago Candice began working with her. She is the quietest most bomb proof horse you could ever ask for. She is used in Therapeutic Riding and growing into the lesson program. She is a shining penny in everyone’s heart!

Jessie

1381816_10201184870396096_861255722_nJessie is a 22 year old AQHA mare. Mom to Lil Girl and Lil Boy. This mare has one heck of a personality! Due to a history of founder Jessie never had a job until last year. With a great Farrier and some feed changes she was able to enter into out Therapeutic Riding program. Due to the founder though she does have a weight limit of a 50 pounds. Jessie enjoys the attention from her young students, you can see it in her eyes and her perky ears.

Roman

006Roman is a 1998 Standard bred  Gelding, standing at 17hh. Roman was a rescue that we took on back in November 2014. He was very neglected. Body score was a one in a half. Which is life threatening! Many skin disorders and lots of treatments. Roman also had a pasture mate that came with him, Sugar. They were both transported to Candice’s house to rehab them. Lots of time and hard work went into these two. Now they are plump happy and healthy and going into our programs!!
